A savoury or sweet bread snack made from flour and yeast, flapjacks (also known as crumpets) are popular for breakfast or dessert – served after a fry-up with maple syrup, or after dinner with ice-cream and fresh strawberries. Use this easy recipe to make 25–30 crumpets. The batter can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 30 days before baking.

Try using buttermilk instead of milk. Also, 250ml Nestle mini semi-sweet morsels work well. When I make them that way, I only use butter. No syrup, honey…

Thanks, great recipe! We served it with bacon & maple syrup for brunch on a lazy Sunday… 🙂 I did put about 1/2 cup more milk in to get the right consistency.

Wonderful. Like my mom used to make! First batch slightly thick and dry. Added a bit of milk, turned them when bubbles started. Lovely soft and tasty.

Tried them this morning and overall they turned out very well but i couldn’t manage to get them smooth lightbrown colored like on the pic in the header… i used a simple frying pan and salted butter as grease and they turned out more goldenlike with a brown center and sides, suggestions how to get this smooth brown flapjack are welcome!! also i could only make +-10 flapjacks instead of the 25-30 like stated in the recipe, although i didn’t use a big pan. would be great if someone could help me out with those issues 🙂

delicious! I added a little extra milk as was too thick, but also added cinnamon and a mashed banana to the batter, served it with honey. Kids loved it and they got some fruit in!

I somehow found myself adding more milk to the mixture as mine turned out very thick. Once I added more milk they came out better.
