A classic white sauce is so versatile and can add that little extra to many a meal – such as lasagna, stews, soups and a variety of pasta sauces. Using ingredients that you more than likely have in your cupboard makes this a useful recipe. The recipe makes one cup of medium white sauce.
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 cup milk
¼ tsp salt
dash white pepper
- Melt butter.
- Whisk in flour, salt and pepper until smooth.
- Cook until bubbly, about one minute.
- Add a little milk and stir. Continue this process until you have used all the milk.
- Stir until smooth.
- Cook until thickened and smooth.
