We are f-i-n-a-l-l-y in our new house. Moving is hectic. Oh my goodness, I have a new resect for people who do this regularly. Seriously, wow. There are still boxes that need unpacking and pictures and towel rails to be put up but we are in at last. And it feels SO good. My biggest tip for moving is this – have one box that you paint in neon pink and adorn with glow in the dark stickers (making sure it can be found, day or night) and pack it with 1. Your toiletries 2. A change of clothes 3. Toilet paper 4. TEA. And if we had to be super picky in terms of priorities, we could just narrow it down the toilet paper and tea. Or just the tea. I will be giving you a grand tour of our new house, starting with the farmhouse kitchen in the next few weeks. Yes, you can be excited about that, stay tuned friends..
You can get real excited about this recipe too. Its homemade FRUIT ROLL people. YEEEEESSS!
And it requires 2 ingredients. TWO.
Apologies about the overuse of the ALL CAPS today but I CANT HELP IT. I’m so EXCITED.
And before we get into the recipe here, you must know that I have made this twice already. And I did a Guava Roll version too which was a crowd favourite amongst my Sanders Boy Clan.
This is how you do eeeet.
Firstly, grab yourself about 12 ripe plums
Then bake them for 20 minutes at 200°C. And then let them cool.
Take the pips out and place the plums in a blender. Add 4 Tablespoons of castor sugar. Blend. You can add more sugar if you feel like it is not sweet enough.
It will eventually look like this…
At this point you can strain the mixture to get rid of the lumpy/skin bits and create a really smooth fruit roll. I left mine in to add some texture but feel free to strain away.
Spray the baking tray with a little cooking spray and then spread the mixture on the tray using the back of a spoon.
Now you’re ready to put it in the oven to dry out. Turn the oven to 70°C (if you have a thermofan, use that setting or alternatively, a standard convection oven will be just fine), close the oven door and leave there for 10-12 hours to dry out.
And then you have fruit roll!!! Cut into slices whilst still warm. Keep in an airtight container or in the fridge.

Delicious, healthy fruit roll – make it yourself at home so you know exactly what goes into it. This recipe is easy and nutritious!

- Cut 12 ripe plums in half and place on a baking tray. (no oil or butter is necessary).
- Bake for 20 minutes at 200°C and then let them cool.
